Hello to all of my new parents and students! I am very excited about the new school year that is approaching so quickly.  My name is Ms. Toxey and this is my first year in the classroom.  I am a recent graduate of The University of South Alabama.  I have many fun and exciting things planned for this year.  I am eager to begin our educational adventure through kindergarten! I hope that my students are eager to learn because there is so much to discover in the months ahead.  I expect to have a successful year with my new kindergartners!

The first week of school is always very hectic not only for me but my students and parents as well.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  My planning period is from 1:30pm to 2:15pm, and the number is 604-9741.  I will be happy to talk with you during this time.

Throughout the year I will request for parents to either send in $3.50 for reading books or to purchase the books themselves from Barnes and Noble book store. We will read one book per month and I would love for every student to have their own book to read along with us in class.  It is not required that you purchase the books since we will be reading them out loud, however it would be at your child’s advantage.  I will be glad to help with this in any way possible!

Our first class field trip will be to the Mobile Symphony.  This will be a free field trip and I would love to have some parents join us! We will have lunch at the park nearby so you will need to pack a lunch for your child that day.  I will send more information along with permission slips at a later date.

I am very excited about meeting all of my new parents.  I hope that you will plan to attend our open house.  This will give you the opportunity to view our classroom and see what we are learning about in the first weeks of school.  This is a very important night and I hope to see all of you there!

In order to plan and organize parties for the classroom I will need help from any parents who are available.  We will have a sign up sheet at our open house that will allow you to find your place of service to our classroom.  You do not 

have to sign up for anything but your help would be greatly

appreciated.  We will need a room mom to help with parties

and field trips as well as any special projects.  This is a very important job and helps me out tremendously!

  Art in the classroom is often overlooked.  I plan to bring art back and educate our students about it.  I will be incorporating art into most of the subjects we study.  Each child will be allowed to express what they have learned through drawing or painting.  I have most of the art supplies we will need but if you could contribute it would be appreciated.  We will be using lots of glue, markers, colored pencils, and crayons.  I will provide the paint and paintbrushes.  Please send an old T-shirt for your child to put over their uniform to avoid any stains.  We will be having fun and accidents happen!

Our classroom serves as a family.  We will be spending lots of time together and learning many new things together!
